RUSH: ADD 30%

The eight-step custom process.

  1. Initial inquiry. Email help@basincraft.com with a sketch, photo, or description. Include rough dimensions, stone preference (if any), and use case.
  2. Feasibility review (within 48 hours). A master craftsperson reviews whether the design can be carved structurally, suggests stone options that match your vision, and flags anything that needs rethinking.
  3. Itemized estimate. Within 5 business days of the feasibility review, you receive a detailed cost breakdown: stone material, carving labor, finishing, packaging, freight, DDP duties, and total timeline.
  4. 50% deposit + drawings. Once you approve the estimate, we invoice 50% deposit. After payment, we send technical drawings (CAD or hand-rendered) showing every dimension and detail for your sign-off.
  5. Slab selection. We send photos of the actual slabs we'll carve from — you approve veining, color zones, and any features. Sign-off here is binding; once we cut, we can't undo veining choices.
  6. Carving (4–12 weeks depending on piece). A master carver works the piece, with mid-progress photos sent at the 50% mark for any final adjustments to finish or detail.
  7. Final inspection + 50% balance. Bedrettin (our atelier lead) personally inspects the finished piece, sends final photos for your sign-off, and invoices the 50% balance. Once paid, the piece is packaged.
  8. Shipped to your door. Tracked DHL/UPS/FedEx for smaller pieces; LTL freight for bathtubs and large slabs. Same 30-day damage guarantee as standard pieces.

What we can carve.

Anything that can be carved from a single block of natural stone. Common requests:

  • Vessel sinks with non-standard shapes, sizes, or drain configurations
  • Undermount and drop-in sinks cut to specific countertop cutout dimensions
  • Freestanding bathtubs with custom interior depths and exterior profiles
  • Built-in tubs that integrate with surrounding tile work or stone surrounds
  • Bookmatched accent slabs for fireplaces, shower walls, and feature walls
  • Dining tables, coffee tables, console tops, and bar tops with chosen edge profiles
  • Bathroom vanities (basin + countertop in one piece, or separately)
  • Architectural elements: columns, plinths, hearths, mantels, decorative bands

What we can't do.

We work with natural stone, not engineered or composite stone (no Caesarstone, Silestone, Dekton, etc.). We don't do mosaic or inlay work involving multiple stones in a single piece. We can't replicate copyrighted designs from other studios — if you want something “like X brand,” send it as a reference for shape inspiration only and we'll design our own version with you.

Pricing reality check.

Custom work is more expensive than standard catalog pieces because each one is designed and carved individually. As a rough guide:

  • Custom vessel sinks: $850–$2,400 depending on stone, size, complexity
  • Custom freestanding bathtubs: $9,500–$28,000 depending on stone, size, profile
  • Bookmatched slab walls: $180–$320 per sq ft installed-ready
  • Dining tables (8–12 ft): $7,500–$22,000 depending on stone, edge, base

These are starting points. Real quotes vary based on stone availability, complexity, and current production load.
