Light Travertine Blasted 2x4 arrives as a mesh-backed sheet you set like a single tile. The stone is travertine, quarried and worked in Turkey. Chip format is 2x4. Chips sit on a straight grid, quiet enough to run the full height of a wall without fighting anything else in the room.

Surface and color. The face of each chip is opened mechanically, with no acid and no chemical wash, so it keeps the texture the stone had in the ground. Shades sit in the beige, gray and brown range. Stone is not manufactured to a color standard, so allow for movement between sheets. “Light” is the variety name for this seam of travertine; it is a color designation, not a different material. Sheets are thinned in production, so they are light enough to go on a wall without a structural allowance.

The stone. Blocks are selected at the quarry face before cutting, which is how the color range on a sheet stays inside a usable band. Nothing here is filled, dyed or resin-backed — the sheet is stone and mesh, and what you see is the stone itself.

Where it works. Designers specify it for shower niches, vanity walls, island fronts and stair-side feature panels. For floor use, check the finish against the traffic the room actually takes.

Setting it. Use a non-staining white adhesive and seal the sheet before grouting — natural stone will take up pigment from a dark grout if it goes on raw. Use a non-staining white adhesive and seal the sheet before grouting — natural stone will take up pigment from a dark grout if it goes on raw.

What the photographs show. We photograph every mosaic twice: once flat, square to the camera, so nothing about the pattern is hidden, and once in a finished room so you can see it under real light with furniture in front of it.

Ordering. Priced at $11.99 per sheet. Orders ship free within the United States from our Connecticut warehouse. Production and dispatch times are shown on this page; the full schedule is in our Shipping Policy.
