Distressed Travertine Pattern Set is a mesh-backed mosaic sheet, cut from natural travertine quarried in Turkey and finished by hand in our own workshop. This is a pattern set: several chip formats share one sheet, so a big wall never falls into an obvious repeat.

Surface and color. Chips are tumbled and edge-worn before setting, which knocks the corners back and gives a wall that looks like it has been there a while. Overall the sheet reads beige, gray, brown and white. Mineral content changes through the quarry face, which is why one box can sit lighter or darker than the next.

The stone. The stone is cut wet on diamond saws, which is slower than dry cutting but leaves a cleaner arris on every chip. Marble is metamorphic and dense, which is what lets it take a crisp edge on a chip this small.

Where it works. It suits a full-height backsplash, a wet-room wall, an entry feature panel or the face of a fireplace chimney breast. For floor use, check the finish against the traffic the room actually takes.

Setting it. Plan the layout from the visible corner outward so any cut sheet lands where it is least seen, and dry-lay a few sheets first to mix batches. Butter the wall rather than the sheet, keep the mesh dry, and align sheets by eye at the seam so the joint disappears.

What the photographs show. Use the flat sheet image to judge scale and the installed images to judge tone. Stone changes noticeably between a close-up and a wall seen at twelve feet.

Ordering. Priced at $24.99 per sheet. Orders ship free within the United States from our Connecticut warehouse. Production and dispatch times are shown on this page; the full schedule is in our Shipping Policy.
