Emperador Marble Mosaic 1x2 is a mesh-backed mosaic sheet, cut from natural marble quarried in Turkey and finished by hand in our own workshop. Chip format is 1x2. Chips sit on a straight grid, quiet enough to run the full height of a wall without fighting anything else in the room.

Surface and color. Chips are cut and calibrated, then hand-set on mesh to an even joint. Expect beige, brown and gray across the sheet. Color comes from the seam the stone was cut from, so shade varies between production runs. Emperador describes the tone of this marble, not a treatment applied to it.

The stone. The stone is cut wet on diamond saws, which is slower than dry cutting but leaves a cleaner arris on every chip. Marble is metamorphic and dense, which is what lets it take a crisp edge on a chip this small.

Where it works. It suits a full-height backsplash, a wet-room wall, an entry feature panel or the face of a fireplace chimney breast. For floor use, check the finish against the traffic the room actually takes.

Setting it. Butter the wall rather than the sheet, keep the mesh dry, and align sheets by eye at the seam so the joint disappears. Seal after installation with a breathable impregnating sealer, and again every couple of years in a wet area.

What the photographs show. The flat frame is the technical one — chip size, joint width, color spread. The interior frames answer the question a swatch cannot: what this looks like from across a room.
